Every year the garden railroads of South Jersey hold an open house. You can visit these wonderful garden layouts and enjoy their diversity and the creativity of their owners. This year we visited 4 layouts in New Jersey and 2 in Maryland. Anyone in our club who is interested in garden railroading can come along.

George Clark's Garden Layout - Stratford, New Jersey

George's layout is well established and has been a favorite over the years.
Parts of the layout are in the shade and even though the temperature is high it is cool in the shade.
There are many beautiful scenes to be found in the landscaping.

Pete Eggink's Petersburg & Charlottesville Railroad - North East, Maryland

Pete's railroad is new and currently he has 2 individual loops. He has plenty of room for the future.
The other interesting feature of Pete's layout is his basement area that can entered from above and reached by a helix type arrangement.

Karl Reichenbach's Karlin Valley Railroad - North East, Maryland

Karl's Karlin Valley Railroad is well established and unlike the others we saw, this one is in the front yard.
Karl has place under his porch for storing his trains. My favorite building ids this scratchbuilt freight station. It doesn't look like any compression was used. It is really large.
The roundhouse and turntable are also scratch built and are well done.

We saw 6 layouts in 2 states and everyone had a great day.
