Fall Update - 10-20-18
Its been a busy summer, and we haven't had a chance to update the layout pictures. If you follow our
Facebook pages, you may have seen a few of these before. As of now, the mainline from
Jersey City, through Easton to Wilkes-Barre is completed. There's just some wiring
that needs to be done to finish the job.

Beginning to work on the backdrop between Jersey City and Wilkes-Barre. In the back, you can see the first pieces being installed.
Martin, Jules, Lou and Steve do the prep work for the next piece of backdrop. The sections were pre-painted in the hall prior to installation
A few more sheets are up.
Steve and Mike put the last straight piece of backdrop up behind the Jersey City Terminal.

The 3/8” masonite is screwed up against the Jersey City plywood decking. Plastic guides are installed between each of the sheets to help keep them rigid.
The view from the hallway through our window.
Now that the backdrop is up, we can work on the deck for Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Here’s the only second level on the layout. The future home of the GSC roundhouse in Wilkes-Barre is over the Jersey City return loop. The Jersey City Terminal is just below the bottom of the picture.

Mike cuts away the last section of Jersey City decking to for where the water will come up to the Jersey City Terminal. The station usually sits in the light colored section right above him.
With the water section cut away, Mike and Martin start to install the last section of the backdrop. This section will go across the Jersey City side of the layout to hide theWilkes-Barre roundhouse.
The last piece is being marked before installation.
Mike marks out the hole where the Jersey City mainline will go under Wilkes-Barre while Lou steadies the backdrop.

The notches for Jersey City Terminal and Elizabethport tracks have been cut as well as the water section behind the terminal. Time for the dry fitting to see if any adjustments need to be made.
Here’s the view from the Wilkes-Barre side. You can’t tell that Jersey City is on the other side. It also does a good job of concealing Lou and Mike.
The backdrop is screwed to the Wilkes-Barre deck. All the screws will be covered with putty and painted to match the rest of the backdrop.
Finishing up around the corner.
