History Garden State Central
Model Railroad Club

Club History

The Garden State Central Model Railroad was formed in 1963 by a group of men who were deeply interested in railroading. The first layout the club built was located in Long Branch, New Jersey. The club has been located here at its present location, Asbury Park, New Jersey, since 1973.

Our members come from all walks of life. One of them may be your next door neighbor. Their hobby brings them together to share a common interest - trains and model railroading, and to share each other's knowledge and experiences, achievements and problems. Members of the Garden State Central Model Railroad Club are beginners as well as master craftsmen of the hobby. Their interests range from train watching to model building to running and operating to social involvement to electronics to scenery making. A common thread they all enjoy is learning, doing and sharing the activities and relationships fostered by friendship and common interest.

The members of the Garden State Central Model Railroad welcome you to our club and our railroad in miniature. we are indeed proud to operate it for your enjoyment. We hope that you might see and enjoy many of the interesting phases of railroading. There are many operations necessary to run a railroad in miniature as well as in everyday life, and we are copying these, as far as possible, in our club. Many points of interest and detail work will be noticed as you watch our trains in operation.
